The Newark Academy Mission: Newark Academy will contribute to the world engaged individuals instilled with a passion for learning, a standard of excellence, and a generosity of spirit.
Since its founding in 1774, Newark Academy has provided students from across the region with a welcoming atmosphere in which to grow and learn. For most of our history, while NA inhabited our first four campuses in Newark, students from the city filled our halls and classrooms. Even after 1964, when Newark Academy’s Board of Trustees made the decision to relocate the Academy to Livingston, NA has maintained a relationship with Newark that goes well beyond the name of our school.
Today, NA remains proud of its ties to Newark and seeks to provide talented students from our namesake city with the very best independent school education. Thanks to the generosity of a loyal alumnus, NA established the Newark Scholars Program in 2012 to provide full scholarships to up to six students each year who live in or attend school in Newark.
The Cooperman Family designates one student in the Newark Scholars Program as the recipient of the Cooperman Family Scholarship. The Newark/Cooperman Scholar is awarded to a student that fulfills all the requirements of a Newark Scholar, but also demonstrates a commitment to Community Service.
