NA Theater Arts Earns Five FOXY Awards
Newark Academy’s theater arts program garnered five awards at Montclair State University’s Theatre Night FOXY Awards on May 20, 2024 for both its Middle School fall production of PUFFS and Upper School fall drama Blue Stockings.
Out of 117 productions nominated, NA theater students took home wins in the following categories:
Middle School production of PUFFS:
Outstanding actor: Carson DeVirgilio ’27
Outstanding actress: Emerson Meakum ’27
Outstanding performance by an acting ensemble
Upper School production of Blue Stockings:
Outstanding actress: Alexa Fastov ’26
Outstanding performance by an acting ensemble
“We are grateful for the recognition of our efforts and humbled by taking home multiple wins in both our Middle School and Upper School productions,” says NA Director of Theater Arts Rachel Shapiro Cooper. “To be in a community with 117 theater programs from across the state of New Jersey is wonderful and inspires us to continue to create joyful and impactful stories on stage.”
The FOXY Awards recognize excellence in the production of high school and middle school plays throughout New Jersey.
